Door Mirror Holes: My car origionally had the door mirrors that mounted to the door skin below the window moulding. Stock on caprices from 1991 to 1994. I liked the look of the newer style as they seemed to blend in better to the mouldings and give the car a cleaner look.
Trunk Key Hole: When taking my stock bow tie off of the trunk I found that there was a concave area on the trunk lid metal under the Bow Tie. I had thought that the bodyshop would have to cut out a square and weld a flat piece of metal in there as I thought filling the area in with Bondo or other filler would not work as it would be to think and possibly crack. Upon taking it to the body shop however they said they had a certain kind of filler called ____ that dries very solid and will stick to the metaal in the hole so that no welding would be required. In order to use this type of filler the metal has to be preped correctly but it is still quicker than welding, grinding, filling, and sanding.
Hood Ornament Hole: I took off my hood ornament immediately when I got my car and drove around with a hole up front for a while. I wish I knew then about an alternative hood ornament used on the Caprice LTZ's part number 10188701. It is flat and square and mounts flat on the hood over the hole for the stock ornament. Cost is about $25.00. When my hood ornament hole was filled it just had a piece of metal welded on the back of the hole and body filler was used to make it flat. Then it was just sanded smooth. There is a ridge going down the center of the caprice hood that must be taken into consideration when sanding.
Antenna Hole: I installed a window mount antenna on the top inside of my windshield. Dakota Digital makes or distributes this and it costs around $70.00. It works good in the LA area for all of my favorite stations but I have not tested it in the desert on the way to Vegas, probly will not work well out there. Having this antenna inside the car I did not need the stock antenna, so I had the shop fill the hole and sand the front right fender smooth. This one is a little tricky as the antenna hole is located on the part of the fender that is very curvy.
